Joplin

Since the twister and destruction in Joplin, MO has become such a huge topic, I felt sort of inspired by a comment someone wrote on Facebook to write a poem, so here's what I came up with. Enjoy.

Joplin

When it feels like your world is crumblin’ down

Someone’s home may be fallin’ to the ground

So before you go thinkin’ that you’ve got it bad

Remember that at least you’ve still got your dad

‘Cause somewhere in the world tonight

Someone’s family just lost the fight

So when you say you just don’t know how you’ll go on

Remember that they lost everything before dawn

It came so fast they didn’t have time to prepare

Most of them made it, but they were left in despair

Standing there, staring at all the rubble

Never having felt so humbled

So when you feel like you keep gettin’ knocked down

Be grateful that at least you get to go another round

Because I know they won’t even dare to whisper

About the day they lost everything to the twister
